Assistant Manager – Neyaskweyahk Gas Bar & Convenience Store and Taco Time

Term: full-time

SUMMARY:
The Gas Bar /Taco Time Assistant Manager will be responsible to support the General Manager in the overall operations of the Gas Bar and Taco Time businesses to improve service, marketing execution and company profitability. This includes scheduling, appraisals, budgeting and attainment of financial results. Other responsibilities include the overall management of image, standards, implementation and adherence to company programs, policies and procedures as well as human resources related activities. This individual reports directly to the General Manager. This individual must possess good public relations skills required for demonstrating professionalism in dealing with the business public. This position requires the individual to be prepared for a flexible work schedule.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Plan, organize, direct and evaluate daily operations.
2. Implement and maintain operational procedures.
3. Balance cash and complete balance sheets, cash reports, reconciliation and related forms.
4. Provide leadership and direction in accordance with company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
5. Provide leadership and direction in the development and achievement of financial results and store budget objectives in the area of sales, margins, expenses and profits.
6. Provide leadership in the areas of employee relations, hiring, training, development, performance management, discipline, recognition, termination, security, administration of policy and procedures and WCB claims.
7. Provide leadership in the areas of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) including participate in OH&S activities, ensuring employees are knowledgeable about and comply with OH&S policies, procedures and legislation.
8. Recruit and hire staff; Conduct performance reviews; Set staff work schedules and monitor staff performance. Ensure forms & payroll records are completed and submitted to NGCI head office.
9. Maintain confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies and Human Resources related information.
10. Control inventory for both businesses.
11. Maintain records of stock, sales and wastage.
12. Make certain the store adheres to government regulations in the area of labeling, sanitation and food safety.
13. Maintain customer service standards by tracking, monitoring and follow-up of customer comments and complaints in a timely efficient manner.
14. Display positive motivation and enthusiasm toward all staff and customers.
15. Maintain a positive image within the community as a public relations representative for the company.
16. Provide feedback to the General Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of operations.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:
1. Must be Trustworthy. Cash handling is a very important task.
2. Loyalty and commitment to work schedule is required.
3. Attention to detail in tasks is critical.
4. Willing to work extra shifts and/or extended hours when requested.
5. Must have a Food Safety Certificate
6. Abstain from Drugs & Alcohol (during working hours).
7. Willing to assist General Manager as requested and take responsibility.
8. Must be willing to sign an Honesty Declaration.
9. Must have own transportation

General Manager

Wage scale:
Dependent upon education and experience.

WORK HOURS: 80 Hour Work Schedule; Flexible salary-based work schedule.
