NGCI take great pride with well planned strategies and more importantly, the execution of the strategy. In the summer of 2018, Victor Buffalo opted to initiate the transition plan for an independent Board Member. An independent Board Member is defined as a non citizen of the Ermineskin Cree Nation. All Board members must have a high level of business acumen and First Nation governance experience.
The CEO carried out the plan which resulted with the NGCI Board of Directors recommending Derek Bruno to replace outgoing independent Board Member Victor Buffalo. The Ermineskin Chief and Council voted unanimously in favour of the recommendation.
Derek’s term began on December 13th, 2018 and will serve 2 years. Dereks experience in First Nations Governance and Business played a key role in his appointment. A successful tranistion plan for the NGCI Board of Directors means that there is stability in Board Governance.
