Ermineskin Cree Nation has approved the sale of a tract of land, known locally as the Ermineskin Land, to the City of Parksville. The lands, located at the civic address of 790 Hirst Avenue, encompass approximately 35.9 hectares or 97 acres and were purchased by Ermineskin Cree Nation thirty years ago as a community investment. Since that date, Ermineskin Cree Nation has attempted to utilize the lands as investment property. Community Update With the signing of the recent “Relationship Agreement”, Ermineskin Chief & Council and NGCI Board of Directors have recently conducted their first “Advisory Committee” meeting. On February 5 & 6, 2014, the Advisory Committee Meeting took place at the Four Bands Bldg. The following summary will explain the purpose of an Advisory Committee and each Parties responsibility. Neyaskweyahk Group of Companies Inc.(NGCI) hosted their first Annual General Meeting on December 18, 2013 at Ermineskin Cree Nation community. The day went great and started with a traditional pipe ceremony conducted by our local elder, Gordon Lee. Other agenda items included the official signing of the “Relationship Agreement” between Ermineskin Cree Nation Shareholders and NGCI Board of Directors; an education scholarship funded by Xerox Canada was presented to a local community member who completed high school and is currently attending Red Deer College; and a power point presentation of the current operations of NGCI.
